Alright everyone! My name's Cal Ruddy. I'm a 22 year old Singer/Songwriter from Liverpool. The past 2 years have been a bit of a rollercoaster for me, but I'll come to that in a minute..

Basically, I've got Aspergers Syndrome. It's something I was diagnosed with at 8 years old along with anxiety and depression (if you don't know about Aspergers and you're anything like me and research all sorts at 3AM, put it in Google). It's such a huge part of my life. It makes everyday situations slightly more difficult to deal with sometimes. However, that doesn't make me any less of a person than someone without Aspergers.

When I was 15 I picked up a guitar and began to teach myself how to play, from then I started to sing and develop my own songwriting style as a coping mechanism. Up until the age of 17-18, it wasn't something I took too seriously until I saw that people actually liked what I was singing & writing and since then, there's been no going back for me.

I have been playing gigs up and down the country for the past 2 and a half years & to be completely honest it's been an absolute whirlwind and I've loved every last second. Last year I released my first EP 'Communication', played 150 gigs across the country as well as a  couple of sell out headline gigs with my band in Liverpool. The support I've had so far has been fantastic not only from my friends, family & supporters but from the likes of BBC Introducing, Radio City, Bay TV, Made in Liverpool, Getintothis, Liverpool Echo, Wirral Globe, Wallasey News & Buz Magazine to name a few. Not to mention the opportunity given to me by the Odeon Cinema to play a set at the Liverpool premiere of The Beatles movie "8 Days A Week".

As some of you may know, I was approached by an American music promotions company during the beginning of the year to fly out to America to participate in the San Diego Beatles Fair and do a little tour. However, as most of you will know, I was admitted to hospital 10 days before I was due to fly out to the US, and once I was discharged, the medical team at the hospital told me I wouldn’t be fit for travel, and if I did, I could make myself A LOT worse in the long run. As I’m sure most of you will agree with me, you can’t put a price on your health! So I had to postpone the trip for the time being, which I was absolutely devastated about.

HOWEVER…

I’m now going to be flying out to Nashville on the 2nd September until 20th with my dad, who’s going to be travelling with me as my plus one, to work with Palmer Global Inc. to write some new material for my second release! Also, I’ll be playing some of Nashville’s most prestigious music venues, which I’m so excited about!! This will really help me to perfect my sound and give me the opportunity to work with some of Nashville’s best musicians, producers & songwriters.

Here’s what Allen McKendree-Palmer, CEO of Palmer Global Inc. had to say about me flying out to the States to work with him!

“Life is so exciting! I am proud to announce that myself and the entire PGI family will be welcoming a new and exciting emerging Artist Cal Ruddy to Nashville in September. We will be welcoming him to our world wide family and helping him create the best music possible! I love fusing my Nashville with Liverpool and the whole of the United Kingdom. Welcome to the family Cal Ruddy. Get ready for an adventure my friend! Palmer Global Ink. Nashville Based-Globally Positioned.” - Palmer Global Inc. (www.facebook.com/palmerglobalink)

As you all know, I’ve been fundraising now for the past 7 months to get out there, and the support from everybody has been well and truly overwhelming. I can’t possibly begin to thank you all, from the bottom of my heart, this means so much to me to have this opportunity and for everything to be finally falling into place. I’m just over £4200 now, which is £800 away from my target of £5000 and it would be absolutely amazing if you could all get behind me one last time to help me make my target! If you’re wondering what I’m fundraising for, it’s to cover the cost of my trip, including, flights, accommodation, insurance, transport while i’m in America, and food etc. And obviously with having Aspergers syndrome, I must have someone who knows me and my health extremely well, so who better than my dad, the legend that is Pete Ruddy. (If you know him, you know haha)

This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for me, and could be the start of something really big. I know everybody can't afford to donate, but if you can donate anything at all, I'd really appreciate it. Even if you can't donate, a simple share of this link would mean the world to me. Lets try and get the word out to as many people as we can!

If you'd not heard my music before and would like to give my EP 'Communcation' a listen you can find me on iTunes & Spotify.   https://open.spotify.com/artist/0VH4YIrCnJks65Dc8nXrAo

I got up to something really cool on a recent flight back from playing in Italy in association with Blue Air. Take a little look at me, singing ‘Maria’ at 38000ft on my YouTube Channel! - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCW5HignjMXo4R-xr3PM8a0w

Or if you'd just like to keep up to date with me, or have any suggestions on how I can raise funds for my trip to the US, drop me a message!
