GUESS WHAT?
Garysburg Volunteer Public Library (GVPL) has taken the pledge!

WHAT PLEDGE?
The 100 Clubs pledge to bring the Girls Who Code Club to communities across America.

WHAT WE KNOW...
Computing skills are the most sought-after in the job market, yet less than a quarter of computing jobs are held by women and fewer are filling those positions.

WHAT YOU MAY NOT KNOW...
Northampton County is among the lowest wealth areas in North Carolina, and this program will provide new opportunities and experiences that could positively impact the lives of our youth and the broader community.

With the demand of skills growing 3X the national average - girls in our region could easily be left behind without access to the kinds of skills GVPL's Girls Who Code Club will offer starting September and lasting the entire school year.

WHAT OUR CODING SQUAD WILL NEED!
With GVPL's Girls Who Code Club scheduled to launch September 2017 we want to enroll 20 participants in grades 6 - 12.

Currently Miss Toya, is our fearless facilitator and looking for both co-facilitators and donations that will help gain access to updated equipment and cool new space for our "Girls Who Code" participants. Currently GVPL has 8 functioning computers to offer basic computer coding classes to inspire and prepare them for careers in technology.

However 3 are in need of repair and additional workstations and desks are needed as soon as possible.
