As the holiday nears and the cold weather only gets colder from here, I am a 20 year old in need of a home this season.
I have a physical disability called Cerebral Palsy, which makes me unable to walk. My parents do not have wheelchair accessible houses that I can stay at. Therefore, I do not have a home to call my own.
On December 8th, I received the word from my university that I could not stay due to the severity of the suicidal thoughts I have and my diagnosed mental health issues. My safety is in constant jeopardy, and housing lists are many years long.
This holiday season, my wish is to have a home that is adapted for my physical needs.
As many of you know, these renovations are not cheap. For all the renovations (ripping up the tub to create a roll in shower, a ramp to get in, lowered toilet, lowered counters, a hoyer lift), the estimate comes out to $30,000. Please note: the new goal is $20,000. A generous donor gave us $10,000 towards the renovations.
