A glimpse of hope.
Donation protected
Hannah and I (Markis) are a couple, both former foster youth and college students who have dealt with homelessness after aging out of the child protective system. I was in the foster care system since age 11, and Hannah was taken from her family at the age of 17. We are each other's only support; financially, physically and emotionally. Despite these obstacles, we have both attended college and Hannah is currently less than a year away from her degree, but with our current circumstance of homelessness, we are having a hard time staying afloat. As a last ditch effort, we quit school and joined the CCC (California Conservation Corps) and got accepted!! We are moving to one of their residential facilities on the 3rd of January 2015. Donations would go towards things we need, or are supposed to have, until we get our first checks on February 10th. (Phone bill, laundry money, moleskin for blisters, poison oak medication, boot socks, shower shoes, writing supplies and stamps, and tolietries (shampoo, soap, toothbrush, etc.) ) Being homeless while our family support is completely absent makes getting everything we need for our first month, before we get paid, pretty hard. Thank you for your time and consideration, and wish us luck!
