Replace the Golden Rule's Rudder!

Donation protected
Please help the Golden Rule peace boat replace her broken rudder!

A few days ago, halfway through her 2017 voyage along the California Coast, the historic Golden Rule peace boat lost her rudder.

The Veterans For Peace Golden Rule Project is currently on it's third annual journey for a nuclear-free world and a peaceful, sustainable future.

Costs are high to replace the rudder, as it is 9 and a half feet high, 28 inches wide, and almost 2 inches thick — made entirely out of wood.

Volunteers have been working nonstop to get the rudder built and replaced, but we spent our reserve funds to obtain the building materials.

We are still short $4,000 and need funds to finish the replacement as soon as possible.

Please donate to help us keep the Golden Rule sailing and educating the public about nuclear weapons and the need to abolish them.

HISTORY:
In 1958, four Quaker activists sailed the Golden Rule toward the Marshall Islands to interfere with atmospheric nuclear bomb testing.

The Golden Rule was the very first of the environmental and peace vessels to go to sea. Her voyage inspired subsequent environmental and peace crafts including the Phoenix of Hiroshima, Greenpeace, and the Sea Shepherds.

After decades in private hands, she sank and was rescued from a watery grave in Humboldt Bay in 2010. Five years of painstaking restoration by Veterans For Peace, Quakers, and many supporters brought the boat and her mission back to life!
