Help Mothers Pay Protesting Fines
Donation protected
We met in a local playgroup ten years ago, as exhausted new mothers. We have no intention of seeing this area industrialized, of handing that tragic future to the children we have worked so hard to nurture. There is no room here for gas storage, and no margin for the risks that are associated with it. We are certain that Crestwood’s plans to store methane gas in the unstable salt caverns under Seneca Lake is a direct threat to our way of life and the future we intend for our children. The future we want for our children is for them to have the freedom to live in the flourishing, sustainable, local economy that already exists here. That economy is based on growing good things to eat and drink with clean water and deserves to be protected at all costs.
After trying to make our voices heard by joining thousands of New York residents and over 150 businesses making calls and writing letters to our representatives, signing petitions, and attending protests, we have finally been forced to blockade the gates of Crestwood Midstream. We were arrested for doing this and are now being fined $370 each for trespassing. Please consider donating to help us cover the cost of our legal fees. Our hearing will be at the Reading Town Hall on November 19th at 7pm. We would love it if you could be there to hold vigil and stand with us in solidarity. Also call your representatives and demand that their offices call for a FERC re-hearing on the permit. Thank you for your support!
