This is a food pantry that I started out of my home over 8 years ago. I live on a fixed income so I picked up bottles & cans to raise the money to buy the food. I was only able to help about 5-10 families per month. When our church was able to buy a building the gave me a small room to use and we started to ask for donations to help me buy more food, and then I was able to help about 20 families a month. Now I have had to take over our Fellowship Hall because the need has grown so much. Currently we are serving appoximately 85 families and 125 individuals per month and the needs are growing. We are open to anyone in our county that meet our requirements. There are about 20 volunteers who help now. At this point we are not even meeting 1% of those whose are food insecure. We are strictly a donation based pantry. All monies raised will be used to buy foods such as dairy, meats, produce. I have been where these people are (and still am) so I know what it means to go without. I know that alot of my clients are working mothers trying to make ends meet, or elderly living on fixed incomes trying to stretch that dollar to make it through the month. You can't imagine what a difference this can bring to someone's life. It puts a smile on my heart to see the smilies on the faces of the people we serve when they realize that there are people out there who care. We need funds every month to meet our needs. I just want to say Thank You to everyone, words just can not express the feelings of graditude I have for this opportunity. This food pantry could not happen every month if it were not for the people who not only donate their time to set it up and distibute the food, their donations, and especially the love and caring they bestow upon our clients.
