Extended Version:
GRAD Academy Memphis is a Title I charter school located in Memphis, TN that serves an underrepresented population of African-American and Hispanic students, 96% of whom are low-income. .
As a project based learning school, GRAD challenges scholars to make authentic connections in their learning by providing multiple opportunities for scholars to grapple with real world dilemmas, partner with community stakeholders, and utilize their collective knowledge and creativity to discover innovative solutions.
For the vast majority of our scholars, traveling to Africa is a once in a lifetime opportunity to connect to their heritage and to develop a sense of identity in the context of the world. As we venture to make this experience a reality for 18 of our scholars, our greatest need is financial support. The cost of the trip is $3,300 per scholar.
We are reaching out to generous individuals and corporations to partner with our scholars to allow them the opportunity to visit the land of their ancestors and bring the story back to their peers.
If you can donate, $2,000, $200, $100, $50, $25, or even $5, it will help make this experience a reality for the next generation of leaders. Every dollar counts.
Thank you for inversting in our future.
If you woud like to read more about the trip and how you can help, read the offical proposal here.
