Grow: Johnson County is an education-based farm focused on reducing food insecurity and empowering a
new wave of growers. We believe having access to healthy food is a human right.

We are currently utilizing two acres of land located at the historic Johnson County Poor Farm to produce organic fruits and vegetables that are donated to local hunger-relief agencies. We also provide hands-on and educational farming experiences for community members of all ages and backgrounds.

In our first growing season (2016), we planted, maintained, and harvested 16 different organic crops. With the help of more than 150+ community volunteers, we harvested and donated over 11,000 pounds of food to local hunger-relief agencies.

As we look ahead to year 2 and beyond, we are turning to you, our dear friends and supporters, for help.

By January 1, we hope to raise $10,000 to help us invest in a selection of vital tools and equipment. The big ticket item? A walk-behind BCS Tractor--a safe and easy-to-use piece of equipment that will help us more efficiently manage our food production and equip more community members with valuable farming skills. We've also included a number of key implements that can be added to the tractor, as well as a plethora of hand-held tools and materials. The BCS tractor will help our farm manager more efficiently and effectively complete tasks as weather and proper soil conditions allow. Having our own equipment on site will also reduce the number of times our farm manager needs to haul his tractor and other equipment to our garden.

By investing in our tool inventory, you're helping us (1)  grow more food for our community and (2) equip more people with advanced food production skills.

The coolest part of this? For any item you help us purchase, you can actually come out to the farm and play with anytime you like! We'll give you a free tutorial...you'll be farmin' in no time!

Thank you for helping us grow good food for all!
