News Article about the strike!

On Thursday December 10th, 2015 while at work, I recieved a distressing call from my Dad. He said that their house had just been hit by lightning and everyone was ok, but that my Mom had been knocked down by the blast. When I arrived, I was astonished by the damage to the tree outside and the two houses on either side of the tree.  My parents house had a hole in the outside wall and a large hole on the inside walls where the strike had shredded two walls and sent sheet rock flying throughout the house.  The force was so strong that it had blown out windows and sent glass flying. My mom was very close to the flying glass, but was very fortunate to have not been hit.  She was however knocked down and was extemely distraut when I showed up.  We were very lucky that both my parents were ok.  The insurance company has responded and is fixing things inside the house, which is extensive. Water leaks, wiring burnt, furnace destoyed, windows shattered, nails blown out of the roof and ceiling, sheet rock exploded, burned furniture and carpets, antique heirlooms destroyed. This all happening right before the holidays was devistating. My parents live on social security as my dad can no longer work. He had a major open heart surgery a year ago and is still recovering from that. His heart recently started to fail, so he had another surgery to add a pacemaker.  My dad is a veteren and served his country as a Marine, which has helped to cover many of the hospital costs, but not all.  They have been doing everything they can to make ends meet, and this latest set of events has only added to their stress. My parents need your help! The tree is destroyed, melted inside and will die.  Its stability has been comprimised and with the wind storms that often come through the Willamette Valley, it is only a matter of time before it falls.  With it being so close to their house and the neighbors house, it needs to be removed.  The insurance company will only cover $750 of the cost for removal.  Being so close to the house, it will require a crane to do the work. The above amount covers the cost of removing this tree.  My parents simply cannot afford to pay for it.  They need your help! Your donation will give them and the neighbors piece of mind and possibly even save lives in the event the tree does get blown over.

Any amount you can donate will help!
