Gulmire Family Trip to Disney
Donation protected
Please help us to raise money for the Gulmire family (Travis, Stacey and Kailey) to go on a once-in-a-lifetime family trip to Disney World.
Travis was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia in February 2008 and has had a hard-fought battle ever since. Doctors have currently said they are running out of options and his time is very limited so this could be their last few months to make positive memories.
THEIR STORY
Travis and Stacey met while both working for Best Buy in late 2004. Their daughter, Kailey, was born on September 9, 2005. Stacey and Travis were married on August 7, 2007, and looking forward to starting their life as a family in Green Bay.
Travis, a 2005 graduate of UW-Green Bay, was working as an accountant at Hermans & Associates in Green Bay. He started not feeling well in early 2008 and after making a doctor appointment, was found to have acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Immediately doctors started him on treatments and in October 2008 he received a bone marrow transplant in Madison. While things didn’t look well for him throughout that time, he pulled through and eventually was in remission. He was back at work and ready to start having a normal life again, and even began pursuing his MBA online through UW-Eau Claire when a year and a half later he started feeling sick again. A checkup with the doctor confirmed his cancer was back. Since then, Travis has been through multiple clinical trials in Minnesota and Chicago, working with Dr. Longo in Madison and Dr. Jaslowski in Green Bay to try and get him back to remission. All the while, Travis continued to work on his MBA, which he received in 2012. He lost his job because he could no longer work so the family is solely supported by Stacey’s current job as a pharmacy technician at Target.
HOW YOU CAN HELP
Now in 2015, 7 years after beginning his fight, Travis has run out of available treatments. Maintenance treatments Dr. Jaslowski had him on after two failed clinical trials in Chicago are not becoming as effective and are damaging his organs. They keep looking all over the United States and even the world for other clinical trials he can be a part of. Travis was given a “hail mary” treatment in March but the latest biopsy results show the cancer is still in his bone marrow and there is nothing they can do to slow it down or stop it without further hurting his organs. He has been told he only has a few months left before time will run out.
Thus, we asking you all to find it in your hearts to help us raise money to get the Gulmire family from Green Bay to Florida in the next few weeks so they can enjoy their only family vacation before it is too late. Kailey, currently in 3rd grade, choose Disney World as the one place she’d love to bring her mom and dad so please help make her wishes a reality and donate anything you are able to. Every little bit helps!
It has been a long fought battle for this whole family and we are all hopeful that a miracle will happen to give Travis more time so he can see his little girl grow up and live the life he deserves but we all know the reality of the situation is he likely will not live much longer.
Thank you all for your donations, thoughts and prayers throughout this difficult time.
