Dear friends of the Mass of the Ages and of the Real Presence,
It occurred to me that it would be a good idea to record our High Masses with a high definition camera from the choir loft and then post the videos online in our public channel on Youtube. This would help the Latin Mass to be more alive and accessible to those 'seeking souls' who are searching for something better (more Catholic, or simply 'Catholic') than the regular protestantized Novus Ordo Mass at the regular protestantized Novus Ordo parish. I mean, the beauty and reverence of the liturgy and the amazing musical arrangements of a High Mass are irresistible (especially when you have a choir like the one we have been blessed with at St. Norbert!), as you well know, and this same beauty of the Mass of the Ages is nowadays one of the primary reasons why many people (although not as many as we would like!) are discovering and embracing the One True Faith. More people would be able to experience it (even if it is on Youtube for the first time!) and become interested in it if we were to make these videos available. The only thing preventing me from doing this right now is that we do not have a high definition camera. Would any of you be willing to either donate a camera, donate towards a camera, or at least let us borrow one for a long, long time?
Another thing I am already working on and would like to ask for your help with is the following project: as you know, I have been making different brochures with the goal of catechizing my parishioners, especially those parishioners of mine who have not had the fortune -the grace from God, because that's what it is- of having been well catechized. They are legion, as you know. Together with these brochures, and with the primary goal in my mind and heart being the total elimination of the horrible abuse that is the practice of receiving Holy Communion in the hand, I have been making also hundreds of copies of a DVD containing an excellent video I found on Youtube ('Rethinking Communion in the hand '). I know that whoever made it would be more than happy to learn that we have been copying his video by the hundreds, after all, he also probably desires nothing more than the complete eradication of this abusive practice from the face of the earth for all eternity! The only problem has been the actual work and time it takes me to make so many copies of this DVD one by one (the attached picture will give you an idea).
I am making so many copies because I am planning on giving one to every single one of my parishioners. If I had this contraption (http://www.amazon.com/Produplicator-Duplicator-Software-Replication-Recorder/dp/B002TIBI3O ) everything would be easier, and I could even make hundreds of copies at your request for you to distribute wherever you would like. I would mail them to you. And there are other videos that we could also copy and distribute.
Is the annihilation of this abuse worth spending all this money? Is it worth doing all this work? Definitely. I know of people who would be willing to give up their lives right now in exchange for the infinite graces that would befall upon the whole Church if this abuse were rooted out forever. Bishop Athanasius Schneider calls it one of the five wounds in the Liturgical Mystical Body of Christ. The Church has been bleeding to her death (that thanks to the mercy of God will not happen) through this wound for too many years, and millions of souls have been lost as a result of the loss of faith in the Real Presence and the fact that people become desensitized to sin when they don't feel the need to be in the state of grace in order to receive Holy Communion. We should do as much as we can to stop it, for the sake of Our Lord Jesus Christ in the first place. As Fr. Hardon said: 'whatever you can do to stop Communion in the hand will be blessed by God'.
