Remove Graffiti from Hanging Lake

The Forest Service is having a tough time keeping up with all of the issues at Hanging Lake and needs our help!
Hanging Lake near Glenwood Springs was recently vandalized with graffiti in numerous places along Hanging Lake trail. Park rangers say the graffiti found along Hanging Lake trail was so fresh you “could still smell the spray paint.”
For those of you that have been to Hanging Lake, you know what a treasure this site is and how lucky we are to be able to to see one of nature's great works of art. If you haven't been, you need to. Recent graffiti, illegal parking, swimming in the lake, walking out on the log, and other rule-breaking has pushed the Forest Service to consider closing the trail until their summer staffing can start- let's try to help them make sure to keep it open.
This campaign is to raise money to offset the costs the Eagle-Holy Cross Forest District to manage this Colorado treasure- to include graffiti removal, post signs, and even staff the parking lot and trail. 100% of the money raised will be donated to the Eagle-Holy Cross Ranger District.
There currently aren’t any rangers patrolling the park and there won’t be anyone in place until late May. “At the rate we’re going, we may have to close the trail until we can get our summer staffing on board,” said District Ranger Aaron Mayville. He added that because cleanup of the recent graffiti will cost about $3,000 in staff time, that will cut into time he would normally spend hiring summer rangers.
In the meantime, anyone with information about the vandalism at the park last week should contact the Eagle-Holy Cross Ranger District at (970)-827-5715.
