Harrison Usher's Breathe Easy Campaign!!
Harrison Usher is 13 weeks old and was diagnosed at 2 weeks old with cystic fibrosis.
Cystic fibrosis is a degenerative disease affecting the lungs, kidneys, stomach and liver. Cystic fibrosis causes a massive build up of mucous which the lungs cannot clear unaided. This causes repeat infections which in turn, damage the lungs causing permenant scarring amongst other things. Currently, 50% of cystic fibrosis patients live until their 30's however thanks to progressive treatments, this figure is improving greatly.
Harrison had a rough start, his first 3 weeks were spent in hospital after contracting pneumonia and sepsis. Further to this Harrison spent 2 weeks in Nottingham children's hospital for further treatment.
Part of Harrison's daily treatment routine involves over 10 medicines taken throughout differnt times of the day and intensive percussive physiotherapy on his chest and back. This involves firm strike like motions to various points on his body. It is not a part of the day Harrison likes!!
Researching further into treatments has uncovered a life-extending vest that rapidly inflates with air and vibrates in a percussive fashion clearing the chest of any mucous or possible infectious blockages.
These vests are currently not available on the NHS and cost in the region of 5-7k. Second hand vests are massively lower in cost (around 2500-3000) and thats our target for this fundraising campaign!
Please help us raise as close to 2500-3000 as possible so that we can get one of these vests for Harrison and extend his life as much as possible.
Thank you a ridiculous amount. Ryan, Kerry and Harrison! x
