Hi! My name is Jessi and I'm a sponsor and advocate with Compassion International. This organization, which aims to end extreme poverty in 26 nations through child development programs, has changed my life in more ways than I could ever explain. I currently write to over 80 children in the countries where Compassion works, and I am always willing to write to more!
In 2014, I traveled to Tanzania and witnessed firsthand the incredible, life-changing work that Compassion is accomplishing through the local church. From providing nourishing meals and clean water, to medical checkups and intervention, to academic assistance and tutoring, to simply being kind and extending friendship and love to the children there, Compassion staffers are helping to change the future for families, communities, and entire countries. During my trip, we visited the homes of local families, delivered gifts of school supplies and sports equipment, led games and activities with the kids, listened to testimonies and saw demonstrations of the life skills and trades that the kids are learning. These opportunities give them hope for a better future. They are going to grow up to be world changers.
I am currently planning my next trip- this time to Latin America! In 2016 I am planning to visit Honduras, where I will participate in similar activities that I did on the Tanzania trip, and I will get to visit my precious sponsor children there, as well. The trip may seem like a long ways off, but it will take time to raise the money needed for the travel expenses!
I am so thankful for all of the financial assistance I received for my Tanzania trip, and am extremely grateful for any and all donations toward this new venture, as well. Stay tuned for upcoming fundraisers, such as bake sales and online auctions!! One new fundraising opportunity featured on this site will also be reward levels. Sponsors who make a donation to my trip efforts will have the opportunity to send a gift to their Honduran sponsor kids!
