Heaux History Matters

It's a brave new era for Sex Worker voices!

You've been reading the renewed flurry of coverage around the desire industry, censorship, and decriminalization. You may have also unearthed a film or two exploring these topics.

Many documentaries have been made about sex work and the fight for sex workers' rights. Few center the narratives and contributions of Black and Brown people, how they have shaped this industry and an entire movement. We are hoping to change that with The Heaux History Project, a documentary series created by Black and Brown sex workers, centering Black and Brown sex workers.

The Heaux History Project will be an episodic journey through erotic labor and performance history, hip-hop and popular culture, law/legislation, laborers' rights, gender identity and expression, sexuality, renaissance, movement(s), and advocacy. We will be traveling the United States, conducting interviews, and doing archival work/research.

The proceeds earned here  will be used for equipment, production and travel costs, compensation (creative team/production staff), and episode curation. We're hoping to make our funding goal within the month in order to get things going. Donations will aid in bringing this film to life and allowing  space to amplify the voices of those often overlooked, silenced, and erased. No amount is too great or small. Your love and support is greatly appreciated!
