Chuck's Medical Fund for Surgery

Donation protected
I was in a motorcycle accident on the freeway. I don't remember that day, I just woke up in the hospital a day later. I shattered my wrist, accompanied with a major concusion. According to the accident report, I was traveling around 60 mph when I went down in the midst of an 8 lane freeway in LA. The bike collided with two other cars, and I was found under a car... safely somehow. It's a mirracle that I'm alive, and I'm so thankful to be recovering. It's been around 3 months, but I'm still recovering physically and financially.

This all happened at the end of November. I underwent two surgeries, and was in the hospital for 5 days. When I recieved the bill for the hosptial stay alone, that's when my heart stopped. $111,000.  This didn't include the surgeon's bill for $4,500, or the anthesia for $3,500, or the ambulence, physical therapy, and a number of other things like x-rays and such. Unortunately, as a 27 year old self-employed photographer, I've never seemed to find the room in my budget for medical insurance.  I've spent the last couple months applying, getting denied, and looking for ways make these bills go away.

I just had my final (hopefully) surgery to get the metal harware removed from my arm. Thanks to this gofundme, I was able to make it happen. Seriously, thank you. Unfortunately, I had to scrape up every last penny I had, on top of the donations I've received here.  Thankfully, the surgery facility agreed to let me pay them seperately over the next few months. Still, this left me with no room to spare, or even a way to cover rent and the rest of my normal expenses this month. The anesthesia bill will come in the mail any day now, and I'll just have to figure that out the best I can.

I'm hoping to raise my smaller goal of  $10,000 asap.
This would help me get to a place where I'm not falling behind so much. It will satisfy some of the more pressing debts with the recent surgery, and begin to work towards the older surgery bills. All together, the mulitple surgeries and third party bills that weren't a part of that big hospital bill, add up to around $20,000. These are more set, where as I'm still looking into ways to get the hospital bill covered, or at least reduced.

Currently, the bigger picture still looks like $130,000. It still hurts to say, and honestly doesn't even seem real. If there are any changes to the hospital bill (and I pray there will be), I will definitely make an update here. I was hesitant to do a gofundme for a while, because I really wanted to try my hardest to work out the insurance side of it first. It hasn't worked, so here I am. It's been a tremendous blessing so far. I really appreciate any help you can offer, and for even taking the time to read this. I believe that things are going to be ok, and that I'll walk away stronger than before.

Please share this if you feel led to do so. Thank you.

Chuck
