Help Give Shelter after Cyclone Idai
Cyclone Idai may be the worst ever disaster of its kind to hit the southern hemisphere according to the UN. 1.7 million people have been impacted by this devastating storm.
Heavy rains and severe flooding have left hundreds of thousands of families homeless and in urgent need of your help. In Malawi alone, 125,000 people have lost their homes. Early reports state over 750 deaths have occurred from the floods, and this number is expected to rise as hundreds have been reported missing.
The crisis is getting worse. Floodwaters are still rising, roads and bridges have been washed away, communications are down. Authorities are also concerned about cholera outbreaks from dirty water. Families are in urgent need of shelter and other emergency aid items. Your donation today helps ensure that no family is left without shelter after disasters around the world.
ShelterBox is responding. ShelterBox is on the ground in Malawi, and is closely monitoring the situation across all affected countries. Teams are doing everything possible to get aid where it needed most. ShelterBox provides customized emergency shelter and supplies to help families recover after disaster. Items like Shelter and tools that will help families rebuild after their homes have been destroyed, water purification filters to help families stay healthy when drinking sources have been contaminated, solar lights to help light a path in the dark when the power is out.
Our teams prioritize reaching the most vulnerable people who would not otherwise receive aid. With your help, together we can ensure more families receive this vital aid as quickly as possible.

HOW YOUR SUPPORT HELPS:
Families have lost their homes, flood waters have contaminated drinking water, power lines and communications are down. Here is how your support can help families.
$500 will provide a family size tent that can sustain extreme weather conditions. A tent can provide a safe and private place for families to recover.
$150 will provide families with a ShelterKit, filled with tarps and tools to rebuild their damaged home or build a locally appropriate shelter. ShelterKits will also include tools for tending crops allowing families to return to normal.
$108 will provide families with 1000 litres of clean drinking water. A water filter is extremely important to a families health after disaster, and will help filter out debris and bacteria, helping to prevent the spread of water-borne disease.
$50 will provide solar lights to help light the way home. When power lights go down and everything is dark, a solar light can help children and families feel safe at night.
