Moving Funds for Pirate Gallery

Tax deductible
All hands on deck – Pirate: Contemporary Art is moving to a new location! We’re saying goodbye to the Navajo Arts District the weekend of May 6th, so immediate support is needed to help fund our impending move. Help us reach our goal of $5000 and join us for our moving celebration! (BTW, Pirate is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, so all donations are tax-deductible!)

For 37 years, Pirate: Contemporary Art has been one of Denver’s most audacious and innovative cooperative art spaces. While many member artists have come and gone, what persists is an unmatched focus on independence and unbridled creative energy. And even as the original vision of Pirate's contemporary art oasis endures, Denver has grown by leaps and bounds around it. Neighborhoods have changed, rents have skyrocketed, and the city’s priorities have shifted from the arts to corporate development. Unable to afford our current space on the edge of the exploding Highlands neighborhood, the time has come for Pirate to say goodbye to the Navajo Arts District and sail on to new waters.

Before we settle into our new location in the Lakewood 40 West Arts District , we’ll need funds to help cover the cost of the move and the buildout of the new space. Finding an affordable location was no small feat, so our new space will need a fair amount of work to become a functioning, attractive gallery. This includes everything from limited demolition, repairs, installing drywall and lighting, improving flooring, and constructing storage space.

Our last day on Navajo Street will be Sunday, May 7th, so we only have a month to raise the funds we need! If you value the arts in Denver and want to preserve the future of independent, artist-run co-op, we need your support, and to help spread the word about Pirate! And remember, Pirate: Contemporary Art is a 501(c)(3) Non-Profit Organization, so feel free to deduct your donation!

Oh yes – in addition to our GoFundMe campaign, we’ll also be holding a big "Pirate's Ship is Sailing" fundraising event on the evening of Saturday, May 6th to celebrate our move and help drive home our fundraising. The event will take place during the closing weekend of the last show at the Navajo location: Laura Phelps Rogers' "A New Look At The American West".

We can't wait for you to join us in celebrating the next 37 years of Pirate. Thank you for your support! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
