Sooke Dance Studio - Keep dance alive!
Donation protected
On
July 31st, 2013, the Sooke Dance Studio was burned to the ground in a
fire at our studio location. The studio has become an icon in the Sooke
Community for dance education and performances. A temporary location is
being established to keep dancer's dancing
until a final location can be found and readied.
While insurance will help us replace many of the material items lost, it will not cover all of the expenses incurred with establishing a temporary and eventually permanent dance studio. The studio and its students have lost so much of what we took years to attain "“ costumes, props, performance wear, shared dance shoes for students, stereo system, studio construction upgrades, ballet barre, flooring and mirrors, waiting room furniture, bookkeeping and office resources, music, and so much more. Many of the props, costumes, and studio furnishing were hand-made and collected over many years.
Please help us to support Sooke Dance Studio, staff and most importantly the wonderful dancers, both young and old. Your donation will be used to help get the studio back on its feet to prepare for classes, camps and shows. The Sooke Dance Studio is committed to continuing to dance while reorganizing and reestablishing all that was lost.
If you prefer to donate in other ways, a wish list is being created for specific items that are needed. We will post that soon.
We thank everyone for the support of Sooke Dance Studio, especially over the first few weeks after the devastation. The dancers will not be forgotten and we will keep on dancing!
