Sophia's Brain Surgery in Boston

Sophia is my amazing 9 year-old daughter; she has been diagnosed with a rare genetic disease with Moya-Moya like symptoms. Moya-Moya is typically characterized as the narrowing of blood vessels in the brain which results in limited blood flow and eventual brain damage from the lack of oxygen to those areas of tissue. This lack of blood flow and oxygen resulted in a series of strokes in 2015. There is no cure.
In early December Sophia’s doctors told us that she needs another surgery. Sophia is scheduled for brain surgery in Boston on January 24th, 2018. This will be the second brain surgery in under a year; the first was last February in Fort Worth, Texas. Doctors at Boston Children’s Hospital believe that the revascularization surgery will help supply blood to the at risk areas in Sophia’s brain. While it will not cure or heal any damaged brain tissue, it may help salvage remaining healthy tissue and hopefully prolong Sophia’s life.
Like many Americans we live paycheck to paycheck with little to no money going to savings. In fact, most months we rob from Peter to pay Paul. We have always traveled wherever we needed to get the best care available for Sophia, but with just a little more than four weeks to prepare for this cross country trip we’ve had no time or money to save and prepare.
With two weeks left until our departure, I am asking for help with our travel expenses which include airfare, housing and transportation while Sophia undergoes this operation. Boston is an expensive town when it comes to hotels, restaurants and just getting around the city not to mention the open ended return tickets since we don’t know exactly how long we’ll need to be there.
Any amount you are able to give will help shoulder this burden and is deeply appreciated, however more than anything else we are asking for your prayers. We know that God is the True Healer, and Sophia is the first to tell you that she is still alive because of prayer! Please take a moment to lift this beautiful child up in your prayers and pass this along to anyone who might be able to help.
