Help Farah Fight Cancer!

Donation protected
Hey! This is a campaign to help Farah fight cancer. She just started treatment on February 1st, 2018. For the next 40 weeks lets join Farah and her family by battling this together

What happened?

This all started when Farah felt a lump on her right glute. To deal with this issue she had undergone an MRI and biopsy. The results of the MRI and biopsy revealed that she had an extraskeletal Ewing's sarcoma.  After her doctors discovered what she had they then ordered PET/CT scans. The scans revealed that it had spread throughout her body and caused two small lesions on her lungs.

What will happen next (timeline)?

·      12 weeks of chemotherapy.

·      Next she will undergo surgery to remove the mass from her right glute. Depending on the outcome of the 12 weeks of chemotherapy they may have to administer radiation either before or after surgery. The lungs will require radiation regardless.

·      28 weeks of chemotherapy. Any additional radiation to the lungs will depend on the outcome of the chemotherapy.

·      Total battle time: 40+ weeks

The chemotherapy will be inpatient at the hospital. Farah will be attending chemotherapy every 2 weeks and alternating between two different sets of chemotherapy drugs. Because this is inpatient she will be required to stay over night. Depending on the chemotherapy being administered, Farah will either be staying 2 nights or 5 nights at the hospital every session.

How will donations help?

Any financial support will assist her family tremendously with the cost of deductibles, out of pocket expenses, prescription cost, and co-insurance. Any donations will go towards the bills that have been or will be made out of pocket by her parents. Furthermore, due to her inpatient hospital stays and numerous appointments, family members must reduce hours from their workweek in order to take care of her through her treatment. Any donation big or small will allow Farah and her family to focus completely on her care and help contribute to her recovery.

Farah’s future after she beats this!

As many of you may know Farah is an excellent and dedicated student! In April she will be graduating with her bachelors degree from Florida International University with a 4.0 GPA. Having already been accepted into graduate school, Farah was suppose to attend the University of Miami’s Doctor of Physical Therapy program this May of 2018. However, because of her diagnosis she will be deferring graduate school until next year. This delay is nothing but a bump in the road for Farah! Her goals have still not changed. She still dreams of becoming a physical therapist specializing in treating spinal cord injury patients and conducting research that could one day help others walk again.

Additional events she looks forward to doing are traveling and volunteering to help others who are also diagnosed with sarcoma. Getting this diagnosis has only broadened her passion for helping people in need.

Farah and her family deeply believe in the power of prayer. One of the most important things you can do for Farah is pray for her and tell others to do the same because God is bigger than all things!
