Helping Hollis

Many of you have asked what happened to Connie and how can you help Hollis.
So I have tried to briefly answer both of those questions.
Thursday December 11th stared out like every other morning for the past 18 years for Hollis McGarity. At the young age of 80 she started with a strong cup of black coffee. She enjoyed a few minutes of quiet time before waking her daughter Connie (58 years old). After calling for her twice with no response, Hollis made her way into Connie’s bedroom to rouse her in that mothering way. Sadly, Hollis discovered that Connie had passed away during the night.
Most people wouldn’t have been able to tell but over the past few years Connie has dealt with a couple minor health issues. They were both incurable but not terminal. After recently pinpointing the cause of her iron deficiency, the doctors believed Connie would be able to live a relatively normal life. Hollis will tell you that she and Connie have talked several times about what Hollis wanted when she finally passed. Normal conversations with the assumption being that a mother would pass before a child. However, God sometimes has different plans then we do and His plan was to bring Connie home and give her total healing.
To say this is a shock to Hollis and her boys is a major understatement. By no means had Hollis ever imagined she would be in this reality. Just a few days ago they celebrated Connie’s 58th birthday and it was a great day. Hollis is facing a new way of life today. One where she has major decisions to make in the coming months in regards to where she will live, what she will drive, and how this widow will be able to financially survive each month.
The Bible says in Galatians 6:2 “Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.”
Hollis is facing many burdens right now. She loved Connie with all her heart. The loss she if feeling is heartbreaking to see. The many doctor appointments and Connie’s inability to continue working has been a great financial burden on them. The Lord provided just enough for them each month. There was no “extra” or “just in case” fund. There was no life insurance policy for Connie. With her passing, Hollis is in a very difficult financial situation.
So! How can you help?
This fund has been set up to allow you (Hollis’ extended family) to ease the immediate financial burden she faces. Thank you for loving her and supporting her in this way. You will never truly know how grateful she is for what you are doing for her. We know that God has a plan for Hollis and He will continue to provide for her every need. Thank you in advance for joining us in showing His love to her in this hour of need.
If you have further questions or offers of specific help please feel free to email April Tolley [email redacted] or Susan Barringer [email redacted].
