Help Viktor offset his medical bill from Canada

In 2014 I was diagnosed with osteosarcoma, an aggressive bone cancer. I've had 3 surgeries to remove cancer and 4 different chemo regimes to try and stop cancer. It kept relapsing

After having palliative chemotherapy last summer which didn't help at all, I decided to put more of my time into alternative medicines like CBD oil and a plethora of supplements that have anti-cancer properties.

In December I went on a trip to Edmonton, Canada. Canada legalised Cannabis and Cannabis Oil (THC) was readily available in retail stores.

Not being in remission and being psychologically and mentally compromised because of the failure of my treatment I thought it was a good idea to cross the pond and stay in Canada for 6 months to take THC Cannabis Oil. My goal was to extend my life by taking Cannabis Oil (CO). There have been many anecdotal cases of people taking CO and having slowed or even put their cancers in remission. There is also lab research and now clinical trials on Cannabis Oil in cancer.

Because I wasn't in remission I couldn't get health insurance. I phoned several different travel health insurance companies and told them I had osteosarcoma. Every company said that Canada was too far away for them to cover me and that they couldn't cover Osteosarcoma.

I thought I should risk it and go.  I arrived in Canada on December 3rd and started taking Cannabis Oil the day after. A small bottle (10ml) cost $94CAD. I ended up spending over $2000 on Cannabis Oil. Because I was taking a lot of THC and couldn't find CBD oil which I also needed, I was experiencing severe anxiety and found it difficult to go about my day. After progressively worse anxiety, 3 months in I started to feel worse, my coughing got a lot worse and I started to spit up blood.

I kept thinking it might not have been the best decision to come all the way to Canada and the cost of everything kept stressing me out as I couldn't work. I think the stress of everything eventually made my condition a lot worse.

In mid-March 2019 I started to feel a lot worse. I became dizzy on walking and started coughing up a lot more blood. A few days after these symptoms persisted I became worried and admitted myself to the Edmonton Hospital Emergency Room.

The doctors did several exams and a CT scan which revealed that part of the main tumour in my left upper lung was now pressing on the aorta of my heart. This was most unexpected and scary. They said they needed to find out what was causing the bleed so they proceeded to do a bronchoscopy on me.

A part of the tumour had a faulty blood vessel and it was causing the bleed. They said I needed to have another procedure which would cut off the blood vessel going into the tumour and would stop the bleed. They also recommended 1 treatment of radiotherapy to inhibit the tumour so I could travel home.

I had the second treatment and the radiotherapy and was discharged a few days later. The doctors recommended I fly back home as soon as possible as they thought I didn't have long to live.

Once I got back to England I started doing more research on what other alternative treatments were available and found Repurposed Drugs for Oncology. I have been on 3 different off label drugs that have anti-cancer activity through a clinic in London called Care Oncology Clinic. I seem to be stable now and have lowered my morphine dose significantly. I can't believe this myself as I thought I would be dying by the start of the summer.

The medical costs that I need to pay to Alberta Health Services have amounted to a total of $23,257 or £14,232.

This is a lot of money, which unfortunately I can't pay right now as I'm unable to work. One of the things I miss most about pre-cancer life was being able to work and hold a job. It gave me a lot of satisfaction knowing I earned my own wage. Right now I'm teaching myself web development and graphic design skills so I can work from home through the internet, building websites for different people and companies. If I can pay off the bill it would lift a massive weight off my shoulders, and would help me acquire the skills I need quicker so I could get back on my feet and return to normal life.

I am quite hopeful and optimistic that I will survive this disease despite my turbulent past with it. After doing many hours of research I now know I can live with it as a chronic disease and keep it at bay.

Thank you for reading and thank you for helping me offset this massive bill!
