Laura's Brain Surgery

My friend Laura needs brain surgery.

Laura is a mom, a teacher, and a horse lover. She is strong, witty, and brave.

But she is out of work (forced to retire on disability from her teaching job due to the brain issue), unable to teach and enjoy her horses. She is still a mom, of course, but that takes all her energy and her dear husband's constant support! 

Her brain surgery will take place across the country from her home. She has an estimated *$2,000 deductible and about $5,000 in travel and boarding expenses for her and her family. *Note: the estimate for the her share of the medical bills is now unknown (insurance will not provide specifics as it depends on what they are billed; see update #3) but will almost certainly be considerably more as she is responsible for 40% of the surgeon's fees and 20% of the hospital.  However, the goal is being left unchanged for now.
