Hitchin Symphony Orchestra

HSO benefits greatly from the continued support of its audience by their attendance at its concerts. We want to continue developing the orchestra, allowing our audiences to enjoy new and exciting programmes and soloists, while at the same time coping with the rising costs of putting on concerts. If you enjoy live music and would like to contribute to the orchestra’s future development, we ask you to consider supporting us with a donation.

It is very sad news that Paul Adrian Rooke, the orchestra's conductor since 1984, passed away peacefully in the early hours of 19 November 2019. He lived each of his 74 years to the maximum, indulging in his passions of cookery, football (watching the Posh play), curries, supporting his old school (Bishop's Stortford) and University College (Gonville and Caius), his composing and conducting with HSO and SMVC, and of course all his other musical activities with the Elgar Society and much more. He was also a devoted and hugely loved Grandad, which brought him a lot of pleasure.

Paul's family would like to pass on thanks to each and every person who asked after him during his time of illness, sent a card to wish him well, or visited him. He was rarely a day without visitors. His friends and friendship meant so much to him and it's a great comfort to know that he was so loved, by so many.

Thank you.
