Honoring Herbert J Walker
Donation protected
All proceeds from this GoFundMe go directly to Mr. Walker's wife of nearly 60 years, Judy, and son Adam.
Mr. Herbert James Walker, 77, passed from this life on August 2, 2024. Born February 3, 1947, in Weatherford, Texas, to Nolan J. Walker and Juanez Rucker Walker, Herbert's roots run deep in Parker County, spanning three generations. He graduated from Brock High School in 1965, and married his sweetheart, Judy Downing in 1966. Together, they were blessed with three sons: Thomas, Adam, and Coy, whom he loved.
Known for his colorful debating skills, Herbert had a passion for engaging with people from all walks of life. As most know, he followed in his father's footsteps as a 2nd generation well driller; his father’s license number was 241 and his license number was 971 - the license registry as it stands now is well over 60,000. He dedicated over fifty years as the owner of Walker Water Well Drilling & Pump Service as a Master Well Driller. Herbert also served as the former President of the Lone Star Water Well Association.
He held his family and community ties close to his heart. Herbert was a former member of the Olive Branch Masonic Lodge #792 in Brock, and contributed to organizations such as the Parker County Sportsman Association and the Greenwood Volunteer Fire Department.
Beyond his professional and community commitments, Herbert found joy in various hobbies including fishing, riding his three wheeler with his oversized purple hat, and in watching classic western movies.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Nolan and Juanez Walker; brother, Mike Walker; and two sons, Thomas and Coy Walker.
Herbert is survived by his devoted wife of 58 years, Judy Walker of Weatherford, Texas; and son, Adam W. Walker; six grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; sister, Karin Malone and husband, Leland; and longtime friend, Lloyd Lothridge; as well as numerous cousins.
A visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., on Friday, August 16, 2024, at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel, in Weatherford, Texas. His funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, August 17, 2024, also at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel, officiated by Brian Leatherman.
The Walker family is deeply grateful for the tremendous outpouring of the community’s love and support during the passing of our beloved and quite cantankerous, pillar of our family, Herbert Walker. If so desire, we politely suggest that instead of contributing to the overwhelming abundance of food, it would be more practical to give to Galbreaith Pickard or to Greene's Florist.
To all the hearts that are aching and the minds that are torn, rest assured that my dad has returned to heaven, and has joined Uncle Mike, Cousin Rusty, Coy, Tommy, PaPa and Granny, and the guys are probably already fishing.
