Help 4-year-old Ethan prepare and care for his Autism Service Dog!

Hope for Ethan Campaign Website

Ethan was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder [ASD] at only 16 months of age in 2015. His diagnosis was later confirmed in 2016 and an ADHD diagnosis was added as well. While Ethan loves to laugh, jump, run, play with water, and chase his big sister around the house, Ethan has no voice. While he communicates by gestures and vocalizations, a few ASL signs, and ~120 words (a typically developing 4-year-old has >1,000), Ethan is often frustrated by his lack of ability to make himself understood which results in temper tantrums. And because he loves to run SO MUCH, he will frequently break away from our hands and bolt in parking lots or stores. He has no instinct to tell him he should stay near his parents, or not climb high objects, or run into traffic.  Ethan also struggles nightly to sleep more than 60-90 minutes at a time and cannot "self soothe" or put himself back to sleep.

While Ethan is a special and happy little boy who makes us laugh daily with his antics, his ASD results in the need for constant vigilance and intervention which has impacted the whole family; we are all suffering from stress induced illness.

As a result, we decided to raise funds for an autism medical service dog for Ethan. Through the grace of a service dog: Ethan's chances of learning to verbally communicate improve by 70%; through tethering, walks or trips to the store will no longer be as challenging and much safer for Ethan as he will be unable to run away or get himself into danger; if he should become lost, the dog will be able to find him; and with a companion to sleep beside Ethan, we will all gain a better nights rest.

While we have already raised the funds needed to secure our place on the waiting list for Ethan's dog, we ask that you please support us by making a donation and sharing our story with as many people as you can. Donations received will help us secure the funding necessary to care for Ethan's dog (see itemized list on the right).

We thank you in advance for your help and support. Every little bit helps and we are grateful to you for any help you can provide.

Sincerely,
Margaret (Keymetian) Ng, with Edward and big sister Emma
