Horrific Life Changing Car Crash - A Second Chance

Changed Forever.
On Monday the 21st of January 2019, my fiancé was involved in a terrible accident.
Just like every other monday, he had finished work and was on his way to my family house in the country.. But never could we have predicted how the usual nice drive would turn for the worst.
As he was driving on the M80 ring road, nearing the seymour exit, traffic had come to a stop.
A Semi trailer truck in front stopped, as did Johnny, with 2 metres space between.
Behind johnny was another Semi trailer truck, who failed to come to a stop due to negligence. He drove straight into my fiancé’s rear end going 80kms according to police report. The force of the collision then pushed Johnny’s car into and under the truck in front.
Johnny was then left trapped wedged between the two trucks in his car for the next half an hour before emergency services arrived.
Once they arrived, Johnny was put into an ambulance. And the other drivers were seen to. The negligent driver behind Johnny, who caused the accident was driving the Semi trailer with NO LICENSE.. someone who should have not been on a road at all, let alone in such heavy machinery, nearly killed my fiancé.
I then received the call that sunk my heart, not knowing whether I would ever hear the love of my life’s voice again.
Johnny was taken to the Royal Melbourne hospital, where everyone was saying ‘it’s a miracle he’s alive.’ ‘Anyone else would be dead, or in a much worse state.’
Miracle? Yes. It’s a miracle, Johnny came out of this with minor physical injuries.
A broken sternum, multiple rib fractures, collar bone and back injuries, sprained rist, head wounds, and the obvious external and internal whiplash.
But how does something like this affect a person mentally?
Johnny can’t close his eyes without hearing the sound of being slammed between two trucks, without thinking about his body thrown around like a rag doll.
The traumatic event that occurred will forever play in Johnny’s mind. How will he ever drive again and feel safe? The sound of emergency vehicles daily reminding him of his near death experience.
Our life before this was blessed, we struggle, but make do. We work hard to afford the house we are building this year, the wedding we are committing to this year. What should be the best time of our life has now been shaken, financial stress, and health stress.
Johnny is covered by insurance, but his car has been completely undervalued.
If/When the time comes for Johnny to feel safe on the roads again, he will need a big, safe and reliable car which we just can’t afford based on our current situation and the small amount of insurance money coming our way.
TAC will cover Johnny’s wage for his time away from work, but as it was, we were just getting by with our wages.
We are unsure what justice will be served to the irresponsible truck driver, but justice won’t help us get by.
There is a long road to recovery ahead, physically and mentally, before he can return to his normal life and work.
We have so much love around us, the family is overwhelmed with all the well wishes.
Thankyou all for taking the time to read our story, any help would be appreciated, and would make this difficult time a little less stressful.
Regards, Mikaela and Johnny X
