Fundraiser for Operation Delta Dog! (operationdeltadog.org)
Did you know that an estimated 22 veterans commit suicide every day in the U.S.? Did you know that service dogs for veterans are given only to those who have sustained physical injuries? While research on the efficacy of service dogs for mental health is currently underway, there is a dramatic need NOW to provide help and relief for veterans who are suffering. Unfortunately, this is a costly endeavor that leaves many veterans without the help they deserve.
Thankfully, we have organizations like Operation Delta Dog to assist with this problem! Operation Delta Dog is a local nonprofit whose mission is to rescue homeless dogs and train them to work as service dogs for veterans with PTSD, TBI, and other similar circumstances.
My First Year Experience students at North Shore Community College in Danvers, MA are participating in a service-learning project where they will be supporting a fundraising event for Operation Delta Dog.
We are hoping for a beautiful day in April where we can raise as much money as possible for OpDD! We will be having music, food, vendors, a raffle, and activities for dogs and humans alike. We are also hosting this GoFundMe page to attract further donations for the organization. If you can't make it to the event but would like to donate to the cause, please do so here!
