Humanitarian Rally in the Sahara

Dear fellow adventurers,
We are Marion and Daniel, two stem cell biology PhD students at the University of Cambridge. We are taking part in the 4L trophy, the biggest international student rally in the iconic Renault 4L across the Moroccan desert.
The challenge: embark upon a 6,000km journey from the picturesque Biarritz in southern France to the maze of the Old Town in Marrakesh. Most of the journey will lead through the sandy Moroccan desert towards the rocky Atlas Mountains. With GPS-based technology being forbidden, this rally will prove to be an exciting navigational challenge, with solidarity between all teams being key to success.
The car: All teams field in the iconic Renault 4L, which greatly influenced the French automotive landscape from 1961 to the early 1990’s. The tough terrain of the Moroccan desert will provide a unique opportunity to test the resilience of this urban vintage car. For instance, in the inevitable case of mechanical issues, we will need to address these ourselves.
More than just an adventure: Beside the personal challenge and sporting competition, charitable causes are at the centre of the 4L Trophy. As part of this desert rally, we will donate school equipment and part of the sponsorship sum to Enfants du désert, a charity devoted to providing education for underprivileged children in remote desert villages. Self-evidently, we will also pledge all unused sponsorship to Enfants du désert.
We already have a 4L car but to be on the starting line and cover the registration fee we need your help!
Here is how you can help us:
- Help us because you like us ==> Sponsor some of our kilometres and give £1 per km.
- Party with us by picking a song we will have to play while driving ==> 5£ per song under 5min or 5 songs (under 5min) for 20£. Pick your song wisely as we will feature the best ones in our rally videos.
- We bring the desert back to you and send you some Sahara sand in a glass bottle ==> £12 including shipping
- Take us shopping with you by purchasing our team AvoQuatro cotton tote bag ==> £15 including postage
- Follow us all year round and get a calendar with the best pictures of the rally ==> £30 including postage
- Come with us into the desert by sending your picture and we stick it on the car ==> £35 including the 7x7cm printed picture and the picture of it in the desert if you leave your email address with us
- Feeling extra fancy? Get a handmade bow tie made by us from scratch and shine wherever you wear it! ==> £50 including postage
