Hurricane Michael Relief
Donation protected
Panama City/Panama City Beach, Florida was devastated by Hurricane Michael on Wednesday, October 10, 2019 which struck the area with 155+ MPH winds as an incredibly destructive Category 5 Hurricane.
A lot of individuals and families did not have the time to evacuate the area as the storm formed over a 6 day period before striking the area and was only upgraded to a Category 1 less than 48 hours before it made impact, which gave the locals very little time to prepare. Aside from a lack of evacuation plans, evacuating an area is costly and is often a chance most people are not able to make.
Fortunately, my family was able to evacuate and found a little Airbnb located just outside of Jackson, Mississippi. As the universe would have it the owner of the Airbnb is a private contractor working for AT&T who has orders to head to Panama City to help with the power restoration efforts. We are in the process of helping him and his small crew find a place to stay over the next couple weeks as they work to restore power as well as any other way possible.
After talking with him we agreed to bring a generator back to town in one of his trailers. With the extra space we are also collecting donations and will be picking up supplies on the way back to the area to distribute.
We have no idea how our home fared, but we expect the worst. From what we see on social media, some people didn't make it but most people are accounted for.
Any money would be appreciated as the rest of 2018 will be a doozy for sure.
Everything donated would go towards my family and other families within our community as I feel a lot may not be able to set up gofundme campaigns.
We will also be purchasing goods as we travel home with any money donated.
Thank you for everything and anything.
