La Isla Carinosa Academy will be a new school on Caye Caulker in the country of Belize (developing country in Central America). We have secured a school license from the Ministry of Education to operate as a private school. It will be under the leadership of Dr. Alberto Luis August, native of Caye Caulker, educator, and OMI member in Belize.
The school will offer high quality education to the children of Caye Caulker in a positive climate with trained teachers and in a physical environment conducive to learning.
The school will be opening in September 2015 with a mission that states, “La Isla Cariñosa Academy is an educational institution dedicated to mold the children of Caye Caulker with critical thinking skills, technology competence, and significant character values in a positive environment with trained and qualified teachers. With the use of contemporary methods of instructions, children will grow to demonstrate maximum academic performance to be able to transition to higher levels of education thus becoming intelligent, considerate, independent Belizean citizens.”
Dr. August was able to secure funding via a loan to construct the school buildings (10 classrooms and 1 administration building), We are now raising funds in the amount of funding is $55,000 USD
The school will use the funds for the following:
1) Children Size Furniture - 40 student tables, 170 chairs, 12 book shelves, 10 school bag cubicles (16 compartments), and 11 closets – US$10K.
2) Teaching Materials - dry eraser markers, permanent markers, crayons, coloring books, pens, pencils, rulers, play dough, construction paper, bristol board, hard board, mathematics manipulative, science materials, maps, ECE manipulative, and other teacher materials – US$10K
3) Teaching Equipment - 11 whiteboards, tripods, puppet theatre – US$5K
4) Technology Equipment - 11 computers, 11 LCD projectors, PA system, printer and scanner – US$10K
5) Playground equipment - swings, slides, plank seesaws, round about – US$10K
6) Books - Library books of all grade levels – US$5K
7) Fees -International banking fees, and processing fees. (Estimated at 11%)
