Haiti Mission Trip

Hi everyone! My name is Naomi and I'm a nursing student at Franciscan University. I have been thinking a lot about what I am called to do as I study nursing.  We were all made in God's image so no person can have less value than another.  All life is meaningful. It has been my dream to travel to a third world country to serve His beautiful people and personally see the state they live in.  I have been given the opportunity to go on a mission trip to Haiti during spring break. For now, I am limited in what I can do, but I know that these people will change my heart.  After I graduate, I plan to do more mission work and make it medical based.  Something I remind myself is that if someone else could achieve my destiny, I would have no cause to be here.  I want to serve Christ and His people, for it is then that I become closer to Him.  I want Christ to use me as His instrument in bringing people to Him through love. 

We'll be spending one week at an orphanage in Haiti through Movin' With The Spirit, which is a great Catholic organization. Many of the children there are victims of the 2010 earthquake. In addition, we'll be working at building sites and caring for the sick and elderly. These people are living in such terrible conditions and need all of the love and support that they can get. Only a portion of the money I raise will be for my flight and living costs. The rest of the money will be given to the orphanage and medical center they are building, since they are the ones who truly need this.
