Help Me Keep My Heart Horse

I came out as a lesbian to my family a year ago and things went downhill from there. Within the past week I have found myself very suddenly estranged with only enough money for rent to my name and no more support from them. I am about to work two jobs to support myself, my school, and my heart horse, Greta.

I have had her since my sophomore year of high school and she has been there for me through thick and thin. Currently she is retired due to an old suspensory strain and, while not sound enough to ride 2nd and 3rd level dressage like we used to, she is thankfully not in any pain and is living a well-deserved retirement. She is at an amazing boarding barn where I know she is well taken care of. While the barn owner has cut me a break in exchange for work, she can only lower the price so much for keeping her in a pasture.

I don't want to give her away and she is not in a condition to be anything other than a pasture pet so selling her would be very unlikely. If I need to part with her down the road in dire circumstances I will have no other choice than to do so. But until then I want to do everything in my power to keep her and make sure she is safe and healthy.

I know within the next couple months I will be back on my feet enough to support the both of us.  But until then I have a $250 check to cut at the beginning of January plus $50 more owed for this month and I don't know if I can make it happen this soon.

Anything would help at this point. I'm not ready to let her go after all she has done for me. Horses are expensive pets, but they have brought me so much joy and have taught me so many life lessons to help me get through tough times like this.
