Last weekend, my car was vandalized, by someone who was a friend (until this incident). Up until then, my car was regularly being used to help out friends, rides to and from work, errands, etc.
On the night of the incident, one of my friends (with no warning) picked up a heavy floor lamp and started using it to bash in windows and cause general destruction. My car also got hit, destroying the front and rear windshields, and also the right rear window. I have contacted authorities, but filing a lawsuit would cost more money than would be worthwhile. At this time, I'm waiting on the prosecutor's decision on whether or not charges will be filed. This of course doesn't help me with my current problem.
Because my car is an older model (1995), I had only carried PLPD insurance; thus, I'm not covered for vandalism. Estimates for repair range from $650 to $700. I'm disabled, living on a disability paycheck, and raising this amount myself will take me nearly an entire year. In the meantime, I have no transportation at all. I've asked friends and family for help, but at most they can only give advice; one of them advised me to come here.
Living without a car has been problematic, to say the least: I have to depend on others for help in getting to appointments, doing grocery shopping, etc. I would greatly appreciate any help you can give me.
Brightest blessings,
Stacy
