OUR STORY
Dear friends and neighbours, my name is Greg, and I am an enormously proud dad of two, Elizabeth & Jack.
I am battling aggressive cancer, with an initial prognosis of 6 months.
Dejectedly, my little guy, Jack, was born with severe disabilities and life-limiting conditions.
Unfortunately, he will be fully dependent on others for the rest of his life.
My daughter once asked me,
"Dad, can the government take Jack away from us because we can't afford him?"
From that day forward, it has been my sole purpose in life to create a legacy for my kids, especially Jack, for when the time comes for me to leave this world.
We continually plan, organize, and host “Rock Out 4 Jack” fundraising events for our son and brother, Jack. And we would love to share our journey with you.
Meet Jack.
Jack is a young Stittsville boy who was born with CHARGE Syndrome; a rare and life-limiting disorder that arises during early fetal development and affects multiple organ systems. Jack is Tracheostomy dependent, has a feeding tube insertion, and is deaf - with vision impairment. He has had 21 surgeries to date and has had numerous admissions to CHEO totaling over 2 years. Jack also requires 24-hour nursing care. He was also subsequently diagnosed with severe autism and continues to battle epilepsy… at one point over one hundred visible seizures daily were common.
His mom has limited availability to work since Jack was born, as she is Jack's primary nurse. And his dad is battling guarded, high-risk cancer. The family is without private insurance; the costs of little Jack’s life sustaining medical supplies alone (tracheostomy & enteral feeding) are astronomical. Sadly, there is a morbidity/mortality rate attached to Jack. We are so lucky to be chosen as his mom & dad. Every day is a blessing.
Our fundraising endeavours include:
