R.I.P Jason Lawhead - We Love You!

Donation protected

This morning (8/31/15) I was notified that my good friend (more like brother) Jason Lawhead had passed away unexpectedly.

He had been fighting an agressive form of cancer for a long time and after chemo & surgery he finally got the all clear from his doctors that there was no more cancer in his system!

We talked about it constantly on Facebook and we were so happy when he finally had beat the cancer. We even made plans to go target shooting when he got his strength back and also have a console gaming day at his
house since he loved to game with friends.

It came as a complete shock to me when I heard that he suddenly developed complications and passed away in the course of about 5 minutes this morning. I had to read the notice on Facebook twice just to make sure I didn't misread it because I couldn't believe that after all that fighting and just talking to him a few days ago that something like this could happen!?!?

I first met Jason when I was 18 years old and started working at a small computer shop called Mothersboard Computers in Gorst, WA. He was the son of Tim & Helen Lawhead who were the owners of the store. They both gave me my shot and hired me at the shop when I was working at Sears offloading trucks previously. We all got along great and I worked there for several years leading up to my Microsoft career.

Jason and I used to hang out a lot when we lived close to eachother. He was a really mellow, easy going guy that anyone could get along with. He reminded me a lot of his father Tim who had a similar people pleasing personality and was the type of guy you would confide in when you needed to talk about anything or just needed a pick me up!

His death came as a complete shock to everyone but the person I feel most heartbroken for right now is his wife Jenn Lawhead (Married in 2010). She fought by his side through all the cancer treatment and did absolutely anything and everything she could to make him feel comfortable and loved. I've never seen people love eachother as much as they did, they were perfect for eachother! She would update social media and let everyone know what was going on with him constantly so all his many friends and family could be on the same page and follow him on his journey.

She would take pictures of him smiling during his cancer treatments to help boost his morale and read the positive comments to him to cheer him up. No matter how tired she was!

They didn't have good insurance or a lot of money since Mothersboard Computers was forced to close unexpectedly after a break-in where everything was stolen while Jason was undergoing treatment.

For that reason I'm creating this GoFundMe even though I generally have a zero crowd funding campaign policy with my YouTube channel (http://barnnerd.com). I'm making an exception here because his wife could really use the money for his funeral and medical expenses and I want to do everything in my power to help her. If you have a few bucks to spare I will make sure when the campaign ends that I hand deliver the money to her myself!

Please help me spread the word and help lesson the burden on Jenn and the rest of his family after this unexpected loss. You will have my (Barnacules) eternal gratitude if you do. If you can't afford to donate anything then please just share the link or spread kind words about Jason Lawhead by using the hashtag #RIPJasonLawhead on any social network.

Below is the last message his wife posted after his passing, it broke my heart when I read it this morning.

R.I.P Jason, you'll be missed. I will think of you often my friend! And hopefully a lot more people will come to know you though this campaign and your memory will live on forever!

This is the last thing Jason posted on his Facebook page. You can see just how much they loved each-other!
