Jeff's journey to inspire
Donation protected
As I write this my Dad, Jeff Smith is on his way to Heathrow Airport for his flight to Nepal ready for his climb up Mount Everest. (29/03/2017)
The aim of this journey is to inspire school children everywhere. Instead of fundraising for this trip, Dad and I decided to give our time and so we have been to visit school children all over the UK. We want to prove to them that they should never ever give up on their dreams and aims in life, no matter how tough things get. Dad has given speeches across the country to over 3000 children and the responses have been incredible!
This journey was going very smoothly, however after two main sponsors pulled out just 3 months before Dad's date to leave we were unsure if this trip was going to go ahead. However, Dad then realised he needed to practice what he was preaching and 'never give up.'
We have worked so hard and in less than 3 months we raised over £20,000 however this is still not enough to cover the expenses of the trip (including; ropes, guides, tents, food, oxygen etc). Although we are yet to raise all of the money, Dad's guide has been extremely kind and allowed him to still go on the trip and has agreed to be paid upon Dad's return.
Whilst Dad is away I decided to start this go fund me page to tell his story and show people how hard he has worked and how much of a difference he has made to our future generations lives already.
Please sponsor however much or little you can afford to help Dad reach this total and to continue to travel the UK when he returns telling stories of the mountain.
Life is all about overcoming obstacles and I hope this Everest at 53 journey is proving that there is always a way and not to let adversity stop you from striving for your goals.
Thank you so much for your support. Together we can do so much.
