Interior before any work was done.
Finding time, finding resources, finding space. "Finding" these and other things is a common part of the daily struggle we all have. What we hope to do with these found aspects may differ, but many of us are searching for more.
As a maker, I solve problems by creating.
Life is busy, lists are long, space and time is limited. Extra hours don't often present themselves to us, but we can do more than find them, we can make them.
This is my studio space solution. An old camper trailer turned (or made if you will) into a studio. For the past two years I have been continuing my art practice on a small desk in the corner of the kitchen in our little rental house. I utilize resources within my community for rolling out slabs of clay, for firing and glazing my work. However, it is time to make space for my work as it expands.
What will having this space mean for me?
Having my own space to work will allow me to produce more ceramic work. I am working towards selling my work in local shops, however, to do so I need a larger space to create the volumn of work necessary.
Being a mobile studio means that I will have more opportunity for pursue teaching and spreading the joy and knowledge of creating through ceramics in my own community!
The space will make these business opportunities possible for me. Having the space leads to opportunities not only for financial stablity as an artist, the ability to pursue my own dream of an MFA, but also in the ability to involve myself in the arts community.
What will the money be used for?
We were able to purchase the trailer and begin renovation with savings.
Funding will help me get set up!
These funds will assist in purchasing tools for my studio now that the space itself is ready. This includes large items such as a pottery wheel, slab roller, buckets and whisks for glazes, shelving, and all sorts of little tools for working with clay!
We completed the trailer last weekend but are still seeking support with funding to make purchases of tools and materials that will help me get started working in my own space. Enjoy some images of the process below.

Donation PERKS!
Giving is a wonderful feeling, however, it's even better when you are gifted with a token of thanks by whoever you are assisting! This token acts as a reminder that together we can accomplish more, that a community is stronger when we invest in one another, and that someones dream was accomplished because of your generosity and investment.
Unglazed tea bowls waiting for their first firing.
Teabowl with cobalt stain glaze. (my personal favorite!)
Coasters
Mandala stamp in Avocado, Orange, or Teal
Whiskey Flask
Orange with Scallop Stamping
Rose with Rose Stamping
Teal with Leaf Stamping
If at all possible I will arrange a drop off with you of work, if you live out of state then I will ship the work to you without any extra fees. If you are out of country we can assess shipping costs.
Thank you for being a part of this journey with me!
Jennifer Joy.
