Haikou City Summer Internship 2015

Hello! For all of you who do not know me, my name is Allex Lourenco. I am a sophomore Elementary Education major at Pensacola Christian College. I want to use my degree to help train up the next generation of Christian leaders either here in the United States or in the country of God’s choosing. God has been laying China on my heart for some time now so I thought I would head over there and see what God wants to show me!
What is the purpose of the trip?
        The main goal of the trip is to show the love of Jesus Christ through our team’s actions as we help teach English.

What will I personally be doing?
    Once I arrive in Haikou City, I will go through orientation for the first three days where I will be given my lesson plans and books. During these first three days, I will also get immersed into the culture as I will get to eat at authentic Chinese restaurants (not Panda Express) and do some shopping. After our orientation, we will be split into four teams. I will most likely be assigned to teach either at the Haikou College of Economics or at the Haikou Elementary School where my room and board will be provided. The climate in Haikou City is hot and humid. I have been told I will be staying in an apartment that has air conditioning; however, the classrooms I will be teaching in do not.          The tentative dates for the trip are June 30th until August 2nd.
