Help JJ Fight His Second AVM Rupture
Our Miracle Boy Needs Your Support
If you know Jayson "JJ" Ferrell, you know his bright smile, his infectious laugh, and his incredible strength. At just 9 years old, JJ is facing the fight of his life — for the second time.
What Happened
On October 15th, 2025, while our family was in Oklahoma for my uncle's wedding, JJ suffered his second AVM rupture. An AVM (Arteriovenous Malformation) is a tangle of blood vessels in the brain where high-pressure arteries connect directly to veins, causing dangerous pressure that can lead to life-threatening bleeding.
What started as a "fun sleepover with family" has turned into a fight for his life.
JJ has been in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at St. Francis Children's Hospital in Tulsa since mid-October. Because his AVM is located in a delicate area near the brainstem, immediate surgery was too risky. Instead, doctors placed a drainage tube to relieve pressure on his brain while his body works to heal.
Where We Are Now
JJ is showing us his fighter spirit every single day. He's breathing on his own now, opening his eyes, and responding more to familiar voices and sounds. He's receiving physical therapy multiple times a day, and the medical team is cautiously optimistic about his progress.
But we still have a long road ahead. JJ will need intensive rehabilitation, including physical, occupational, and speech therapy.
Once he's stable enough to travel, he'll be transferred back to California where his Kaiser neurosurgery team will continue his care.
How You Can Help
Our family is facing mounting expenses that we never anticipated:
- Travel costs between California and Oklahoma as we maintain a presence at JJ's bedside
- Loss of income as Johnny (JJ's dad) will need to take extended time off work to be with JJ during his recovery
- Medical and rehabilitation expenses not fully covered by insurance
- Equipment and home adaptations JJ may need when he comes home
- Extended rehabilitation facility care to help JJ regain his strength and abilities
Every dollar raised will go directly toward supporting JJ's recovery and helping our family stay by his side without the added stress of financial strain.
Our Faith and Gratitude
We're holding onto faith and celebrating every small victory — every breath, every eye flutter, every small movement. JJ has already defied the odds once before when he survived his first AVM rupture in 2020. We believe in his strength, and we're trusting in God's plan.
We are overwhelmed by the love and support our family has already received. Whether you can donate, share this campaign, or keep JJ in your prayers, we are deeply grateful.
