Hiring an Attorney to save James

Hello, my name is Alicia Nevins and I am asking for assistance. As a mom I cannot sit by and watch my son suffer. I am needing to obtain an attorney to get an emergency change of custody. To do so, I have to pay a retainer of $2,500 for him to start on my case. So I am asking for help to obtain the attorney so he can save my son.
Here is our Story
My Ex husband and I were married for six and a half years, spending the last part of our marriage in Alabama. Throughout our marriage I suffered through physical, mental and sexual abuse at the hands of my ex. I had finally had enough and left him in the middle of the night. This all took a very hard toll on me along with the abuse I suffered during the marriage. I was not mentally able to take care of my son, so I had my ex take care of him.
Throughout the years I have heard stories from my son that were all very bothersome. James will sit on the couch with me and pour his little heart out. Telling me stories of his dad putting his head into a wall, his father calling him "Son of a whore," being put into a plastic bag and made to sleep in it because he peed the bed. Being exposed to porn videos and magazines, being grounded for months upon months for simple kid things, being slapped across the face by his step mother so hard that it left hand prints or being told that she doesn't give a dam* about him, having to kneel on rice for 30 mins, getting hit in the face with a paddle and being treated like a true slave. His stepmother smoking and buying marijuana in front of him and his little sister. The worst of all is his step mother wrongfully accusing him of touching his three year old sister. Which has been proven he didn't. Because of this accusation, James is at this point, in the custody of his step grandparents for the time being. They are now investigating his step mother and her actions., but will have to go back to his father.
I have reported to DHR (Department of Human Resources) everything my son has informed me of. But they are so far taking the stand that they cannot interfere with custody. I have him here with me currently for Christmas break and needing an emergency change of custody to keep him here. All I am wanting to do is save my boy!
