Annie's Diabetic Alert Dog

Donation protected
Hi! My name is Annie, I am 14 years old and I have type 1 diabetes.  Normal blood sugar levels should be 100-140, but when I was diagnosed in the spring on 2012 my blood sugar was 1003. When my blood sugar goes too high or too low, it can cause me to have a seizure, go into a coma or even die. The big problem is that even though I test my blood sugar regularly, I don’t always feel when my blood sugars are being crazy and I don’t know when it is to too high or too low.  So I deal with crazy blood sugars every day.  My blood sugars going wacko without my knowing is a huge trouble at school, I can’t concentrate on my work when my blood sugars are too high or too low, and I have to go to the school nurse’s office to get my blood sugars back to a good number.  Most of the time, when my blood sugar is really low, it won’t come up for a long time, so I miss a whole lot of class time. This has been one of my main struggles as a type 1 diabetic. I enjoy school and have been a good student, but the class absences are having a bad effect on my grades.

Diabetic alert dogs are specially trained service dogs that can smell the chemical change in my body when my blood sugar goes out of target, so I can be warned before my blood sugar goes berserk. Having a diabetic alert dog would help me have more freedom, give me a way to stay in class for longer periods, and give both me and my parents a better peace of mind. Please help me raise money to be able to get my dog and maybe even safe my life!
