John Fitts: Haitian Missionary

The Goal
John Fitts is a missionary in Haiti and has 14 full-time employees under his care. His ministry doesn't receive an income for the work they perform in Haiti. He pays his staff out of his monthly stipend from his parent organization.

However, his parent organization had to make budget cuts and John's financial situation is dire. Currently he cannot pay his staff and doesn't have enough to live in Haiti. He's surviving day by day.

John needs to raise $25,000 to keep his 14 staff members teaching English and reaching their community for Jesus.

This $25,000 includes salaries, transportation costs, food & lodging, school supplies, day-to-day expenses & emergency funds for the rest of 2016.

In the six years he has lived in Haiti, he has never had to fundraise.

I told him I would create this account for him in the hopes that many will partner with John and his staff to keep their ministry alive for the rest of this 2016 calendar year.  Your donation will ensure they can continue to be a light to the people of Haiti.

How I met John Fitts

I met John six years ago in Port-au-Prince, Haiti after the devastating earthquake that killed hundreds of thousands of people. When we arrived you could still smell the decomposing bodies that were trapped in crushed buildings all over PAP. Millions were homeless and living in cardboard box tents or anything that wasn't made of concrete. Food and water were scarce. Riots were common.

Our home for our disaster relief missions trip was in an orphange overlooking the airport. We slept on concrete and ate whatever was provided for us.

(Our sleeping arrangements in Haiti, 2010.)

John and I (as well as the rest of our team) were both serving with Score International, a Christian missions agency, to assit with the earthquake relief efforts. Part of that detail included food distribution and clean up.

(Me and John picking up a team of volunteers at the PAP airport in March 2010.)

Everyone loved John as soon as we met him. Our first team was made up of US Marines, an Army Ranger, 2 nurses, pastors and disaster relief workers.

John was a landscaper turned missionary. In fact this was his first missions work. His job was earthquake relief  and guiding hundreds of volunteers his first week as a missionary.

In a country that was full of chaos, pain and uncertainty.

He has done a great job.

Professor John

Everyone on the disaster relief team went home.

Well, almost everyone.

Most of our team stayed one week. Some stayed two. I stayed for three weeks.

John never went home.

That was six years ago.

(John teaching English in a coverted school bus.)

Yes, in Haiti, a school bus is a classroom.

Today, Fitts has a thriving ministry in Port-au-Prince. He employs 13 full-time English Teachers and 1 Adminstrative Assistant.

Every English teacher must complete a year of Discipleship Classes. They graduate and recieve a diploma, just like college students.

(The first Chadasha Discipleship Training class with Robert Beaman, Mike Aman, Frank Dees and Chadasha staff at the Chadasha House in 2011.)

Collectively, John and his team have almost 300 Haitian students learning English for free. The average class size is 26. As many of you know, English is like a college education in Haiti and John's work is badly needed.

Your support will ensure lives are changed for the better.

The Chadasha House

John is also the house manager for the Chadasha House. The Chadasha House is like a Bed & Breakfast in PAP...Haitian style.

(Some of John's staff at the Chadasha House.)

It's not only John's home, but some of his staff live there as well. They hold many discipleship & Bible meetings at the Chadasha House.

Travelers from all over the world have stayed at the Chadasha House too.

If you have ever stayed at the Chadasha House then you know how much this Haitian Coke is worth....priceless.

John always made sure the cooler was full so we could enjoy an ice cold Coke.

(PS If you never put in your $2 for the Coke you drank, now is a good time to pay John back!)

The Chadasha Children's Home: Little Hands & Feet

Little Hands and Feet serves as a refuge for the children who need a safe, healthy environment to live and grow until their parents are able to care for them again. The mission is to provide children with lots of love and the proper nutrition needed to sustain a happy and healthy life. To present the children God’s perfect plan, and teach them how special they are in God’s eyes, no matter what their background is or how they were brought into this world. Currently, there are 11 children being served. The children are overseen First Baptist Pernier Church, which is overseen by Pastor Jude Roseau. Education is provided at a local private school....John  assists with needs at the children's home.

Other Ministrie Duties

John is never idle. In addition to his staff and the children's home, he assists with Chadasha's medical work in Haiti & The Domincan Republic.

(The Jimani Guest House in Jimani, Domincan Republic. It sits on the border of Haiti/DR and was ground zero for many medical teams during the quake relief. It also served as a make shift hospital for those injured in the quake of 2010.)

John and some of his staff provide transportation for doctors, nurses, volunteers & patients to the DR from Port-au-Prince.

Many of these people, including the heart patients stay at the Chadasha House during transition.

Thank You!

Your donation will keep John in Haiti, provide 14 Haitians with a quality job, provide doctors, nurses and patients a driver and a safe place to stay while in Port-au-Prince.

Every single penny donated through this Go Fund Me project goes directly to John Fitts and his staff. There is no middle man.

Although I set up the account, John will handle the financial end so that you can be sure your support is going directly to him and his staff.

If you know John like I do, then you know he is eternally grateful for your donation (as is his staff).

Please contact me  or John if you have any questions,
