Chris "Johnsie" Johns had a knack for making everyone feel special, welcomed and cared for. When and how you experienced it depends on how he touched your life.
Maybe you were one of the cool kids who skied bumps with him back in the day. Maybe you had the privilege of snowboarding with him this season.
Maybe you admired his skating skills or were a proud member of his hockey team. Maybe you ripped it up on dirt bikes in the desert or raced cars with him.
Maybe you were a customer at his bike shop, Wheels. This is where Johnsie shined the brightest. At Wheels you were welcomed with Johnsie's infectious smile and his enthusiasm related to all things bike. He was excited to hear your tales and be a part of any type of riding you were into: road, mountain, BMX, snow, gravel, even ebikes.
No matter how busy he was he was happy to see you.
No matter how strapped he was he had something to give.
No matter how he touched your life, we know Johnsie made it a little bit better.
And now is the time to show our gratitude. We, his friends, his community, his tribe, want to hold a memorial service for Johnsie that shows his family how much he gave to all of us, how much of an impact he had on our lives and how much he will be missed.
But we want to do more than that. We want to honor Johnsie with something more permanent. We want to create a lasting tribute so we can always remember how we felt when Johnsie flashed us that smile.
Please consider donating. We will use the funds collected here first to pay for the memorial service to be held April 7th from 4-8PM at the Steamboat Springs Community Center. The remainder will be used to create a lasting tribute to Johnsie in Steamboat Springs, CO.
