To summarize:
Junior High is a non-profit community space in the sense that we book content by curating pitches sent from artists to our inbox. We try to diversify our calendar and bring awareness to issues often overlooked or communities currently under attack. Junior High is meant to showcase the creative pursuits of marginalized voices.
In order to sustain our tiny space, we need to pay rent and utilities. This amounts to about $3,000 a month. You can read more about our funding at welcometojuniorhigh.com/funding . It's a transparent look at where our money goes, and how much we need.
In February of 2018, we are also looking to renovate the space to make it safer by sealing our concrete floors and installing more functional lighting. This costs money. Our amazing contractor Mary Leigh has estimated our remodel quote right around the $3,000 mark.
So your donation today will help Junior High exist for another year, working with young people and insanely talented artists that aren't afforded a voice or a platform in commercially recognized galleries.
All donations of $100 or more will also recieve a free copy of Junior High Magazine, Issue One due to be released this March. The Magazine is an extention of the space, but for folks outside of Los Angeles who want a glimpse into the art and artists we showcase!
