Justice for Agora Café

We are Agora Café- a student volunteer run, not-for-profit café located at the University of British Columbia, on the Point Grey campus. We care A LOT about food at Agora, and we strive to provide affordable, accessible, healthy, local and organic choices to our customers. In addition to caring about food, we also aspire to connect with the students and faculty of UBC. Agora is a unique café where we provide the opportunity for students to get real-time experience in the food service industry. Our volunteers gain experience in food preparation, customer service and broaden their interpersonal and networking skills. It only takes one visit to Agora to see how much our volunteers, executive committee and surrounding community care about Agora.
Over the Easter Weekend (April 3-6, 2015) Agora was robbed. $685 dollars was stolen out of our cash exchange. All of us on the Agora team put so much time, work and love into everything we do for the café, and this act of burglary is truly devastating. Because we are all volunteers and the money we make in sales at Agora is directly invested back into the café to purchase food and other necessities, we have no way to recover from this loss. This is why we are reaching out to you- people who love Agora, people who volunteer with Agora, and people who have a passion for enhancing food security and JUSTICE! We are fundraising to account for the money we lost, a deadbolt for our door, an integrated security alarm and a surveillance system. We cannot do this alone... please help us keep Agora safe and functional! #justiceforagora
