Justin's story:
In May of 2014, a locally owned horse was placed in a field near our farm. His owners had no more use for him and was headed to auction, presummably to be sold to kill buyers! Because of his weakness and crowded conditions on the trailer, he fell in transit and was pulled off the trailer, into a field to fend for himself! Soon there-after, we discovered him down on the ground, in the heat, unable to get up or graze, with multiple injuries, abcesses, dehydrated and starving!
We brought him food and water and made him a soft bed of hay. Later that night a local veterinarian administered antibiotics and anti-inflamatories, saying that if the horse could not stand up he would have to be euthanized. Thanks to our vet, Justin was made able to stand and, after recieving permission for his owner, Justin was moved into the barn on our farm the next morning. He was extremely malnourished in addition to being injured, nearly unable to walk due to ankle/leg trauma, weakness, and EPM. He had rain scald , multiple abcesses and was still covered in harness sores!! He was only 14 years old when we found him and has a long life ahead of him!! Day after day, he never told us he was done fighting, so we fought with him!
We named him Justin Thyme. He's crossed many difficult hurdles and never gave up for a second. He is comfortable now, happy and being cared for properly.
All proceeds from this fundraiser are used to pay for vet bills, hay, grains, dental care, farrier fees, vaccinations, dewroming, stable supplies, blankets, fence upkeep, etc. Please see his wish list below.
All of Justin's supporters made saving him possible. We absolutly could not have done this without you! We can't thank you enough!
Please visit Justin's Facebook page for daily photos and news! <3 thanks a million
