Documentary Video: Dingess Tunnel

Donation protected
Nearly a mile long in length, the one-lane Dingess Tunnel connecting the communities of Dingess and Lenore, West Virginia, has been in use since 1892 and been the subject of intense curiosity for over a century.

With tales abounding or murder, tragedy and triumph, the tunnel embodies the rich and proud heritage that is Southern West Virginia, and Mingo County in particular.

Sadly, national media attention regarding this American landmark has been limited -- like so much of the Tug Valley region, this forgotten piece of living history is known only to locals.

It is the goal of Appalachian Magazine to showcase this wonderful piece of nineteenth century engineering that has withstood the test of time and defined a community for nearly a decade and a half.

Our plan is to raise $1,000 dollars to help cover the costs associated with producing a quality documentary on the Dingess Tunnel and surrounding community (featuring interviews with local residents and historians), making the video available to the public, free of charge, via social media and YouTube…  Reaching no fewer than 30,000 individuals.

Your financial investment will make this video possible!
